Fall Softball League Five teams will be participating in SSBL-Madison's fall softball league! The league will be on Tuesday Nights at Bowman Field Number 2 (the field near Fish Hatchery Road, park in the rear parking lot - the field was initially Field 1, but the City has scheduled work on that field so we will have to move to Field 2). This is a competitive league and teams are mostly formed on their own. However, some teams still need players. If you are interested in playing and do not have a team to join, please contact or e-mail our Assistant Commissioner Markie at Mark.Corey@slumberland.com and he will direct you to teams still in need of players. The league will start August 19th (scrimmage night) and the fee for the season is $20 per player. Each team will have a bye week and there will be a single-elimination playoffs tournament at the end. Games start at 6:30. Below is the schedule of games:

Felicia Melton-Smyth Receives Most Votes for Local Public Hero in Isthmus Readers Poll, League and Sponsor Bars Recognized Thank you to everyone who voted for Felicia in the Isthmus Readers Poll for Local Public Hero--she received the most votes ahead of Mayor Dave and Senator Feingold. It is a wonderful tribute to someone who meant so much to our community. In addition, our softball league received the third most votes for favorite Outdoor Spectator Sport--WOW! Our sponsor bars were also recognized--Club 5 received the most votes for favorite Dance Club; the Hookah Lounge received the second most votes for favorite Place for Karaoke; and Shamrock Bar tied with Genna's for the most votes for favorite Happy Hour and received the third most votes for favorite Place for Karaoke.

Annual Community Service Project - Sunday, September 21st Please welcome our new community chair Maria Parker to the league! Maria played with the Orange HooHahs this season. Last season, we staffed a picnic for children affected by cancer and their families (http://www.capcan.org/. This season, we will be helping with the 3rd Annual Zoo Run Run to benefit Madison's free Henry Vilas Zoo. We will likely be staffing water stations along the route in groups of four to five. Miss Gay Madison Softball Annual Drag Show Fundraiser Sunday, September 21st, at Club 5 at 9:00 PM On Sunday, September 21st, SSBL-Madison will host its 5th Annual Miss Gay Madison Softball Drag Show! During the show, a player from each team performs. The winner is determined by which performer raises the most money. All money raised goes back to our league and 10 percent will be donated to the 2009 ASANA World Series. Coaches - please let Tory know who will be performing from your team by the end of the season.

SSBL-Madison to Host 2009 ASANA World Series!
The week before Labor Day
2009, SSBL-Madison will host the Softball World Series for women's leagues
from across the country! This event will bring hundreds of players and
fans to our city. This event will require
a tremendous commitment from our league and community. More information about planning and
